How did you find your way to Farmville?
Both of my parents are Prince Edward County natives. My dad was in the Army, so we lived in a few places like Berlin, Germany and Ft. Lewis, Washington before settling down in the Farmville area in 1988.
Who asked you to become a part of Farmville Downtown Partnership? Why did you say “yes”?
When the town first received the Main Street designation, I was interested in volunteering. I believe John Miller made a recommendation for me to serve on the board, and I remember receiving a letter in the mail asking me to join. I said “yes” because I just LOVE Farmville, and I wanted to invest my time in an organization that is devoted to showcasing our beautiful downtown area.
If you could be any object located in the Main Street District, what would you be and why?
I would be the swing on the patio at the Virginia Tasting Cellar. The swing looks out onto the Appomattox River, and that area is so peaceful and relaxing. It’s like a little hidden gem in Downtown Farmville!
Which celebrity do you think would love Farmville Downtown? Why?
I think Oscar award winning Denzel Washington, whose family is from Buckingham County, would love Downtown Farmville! I think he’d enjoy the close-knit community we have that’s filled with interesting people. Our downtown is the total opposite of the bright lights and fast pace of Hollywood, but Farmville is thriving with the arts, history, shopping, and dining that I’m sure he’d enjoy.
