Farmville Downtown Partnership (FDP), a certified Virginia Main Street Community, is accepting applications for a Main Street Program Manager. The Manager serves as chief advisor and staff to the FDP Board, committees, and task forces, and is responsible for coordinating downtown revitalization activities consistent with the Main Street Four Point Approach. The county seat of Prince Edward County in central Virginia, Farmville is a town of about 7,000 people and a shopping destination of five counties. Two institutions of higher education, a state park, a National Historic Landmark, and a nationally accredited art museum are located in close proximity to downtown.
The Main Street Program Manager must be well organized, creative, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, self-motivated, energetic, and an excellent communicator; capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment while coordinating public and private interests represented on the board of directors and in the downtown area.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and have professional experience in one or more of the following areas: economic development, planning, historic preservation, retailing and marketing; a master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
